A solution to save our Booru!
I posted into the main booru support to stop the bot spamming and here's the response
Greetings,

If there is anyone willing to help moderate the booru they are free to contact staff@booru.org about it. For starters I have disabled Anon uploading and commenting. I will work on clearing out the comments, but please do try to have someone appointed a moderator position (or we can even move the booru ownership over if the original owner is no longer active on the site). If you wish to proceed with this, or you know a user willing to moderate the booru going forward please email staff@booru.org with the relevant information and we can continue the conversation there.

I kinda think Buffscale should be the one to take over admin myself.

And you're totally not that person and neither have anything to do with the spamming. Right

Nope Buffscale is a super active member on this Booru so I'd figure he/she would be able to take the reigns.I rely on this Booru quite a bit no way I'd want destroy it with bots and other shit like that. Just don't want to see it go down and have to find another source for cards.

So basically if you don't like the way this site is being run, why don't you create another booru? Plenty of people either don't care or even like the way the booru the way it is.

I don't mind to be honest, if you care about it why don't you create another booru and invite people there? Surely if the rules you're proposing are what people really want everyone will move there.

Right?

So your silence is basically.... what? Why don't you create a booru with your own rules, man?

That's right, you did. You did and it never caught on. Surely that has nothing to do with the fact that you're trying to get admin rights here now...

anything left unregulated eats itself alive. that's what's starting to happen from what i can tell.

so sure, let this place burn. THEN someone can just make another one. end result: same.

Or, you can just skip all that, and fix this one. saves time for sure.

Well hello there brand new user, thanks for sharing your opinion about the perceived negative consequences of deregulation.

I'm guessing a lot of people in western societies and in this booru would disagree with you, then again you're free to create another domain where rules are enforced according to your will only. That's the beauty of the internet: nobody's forcing you to stay in this "unregulated" place to read spam.

You seem very confident in your own opinions so I'm sure you can create a better booru than this one, and people will definitely move there if that ends up being the case.

What is it about trying to get an active admin for this booru that's got you so scared? These fucking bots need to go away and without any active admin we can't IP Ban the user which has been revealed thanks to removing Anon commenting.

I am not scared and I don't think IP bans would scare the spammer either, considering proxies exist.

What I AM against is people trying to force their way into everything they dislike and coercing others along with them: nobody forced you to use this site, and you implicitly agree with the way it works by participating in it (and you apparently don't even participate that much, going by your own admission and your user history), especially when there are readily available alternatives to create your own site where people sharing your POV can freely gather if they choose to, not by forcing upon them (upon us) a new status quo, which is what you're trying to do.

If random comments on your screen really fluster you that much, you can either grow up and ignore them, or create your safe heaven against them. You don't see me going into your house and changing the rules because I don't like them: that's what my house is for.

Fair enough, while I'm sure I'm not the only who dislikes the bots some folks don't care at all. Either or I was just trying to assist this Booru since I haven't contributed much to it. I really think having an active admin would help in hopes that they would listen the entire group for things I don't think anything else really needs to change other than having some kinda defense against the bots. All in all I'm just one user among many. You're definitely free to email the main staff yourself as well indicating that nothing should be changed. My bad, I'll step away now.

I don't think anyone likes spam unironically, but excessive regulations/obstacles tend to scare people away and end up being counterproductive: just see how well that "other" booru is doing (where registration and uploading requires previously mailing the admin), and it's not exactly brimming with activity (and that's not even considering how that system implies the 'dangers' of arbitrary decisions by the people in charge of authorizing content).

Freedom carries dangers too, but considering in this case those dangers are literally characters on our screens that we can ignore, I don't think they deserve all this fuss.

UnOwned I hope you know you're just replying to a shit-stirrer. Also don't reply to it at all if you can help it. He's got multiple accounts and he's done this shit *several* times.

Anyway Kenzato is working on making a new Booru anyway with actual divided sections for Playhome, Honey Select, and Koikatu, and further subdivided sections within for scenes, cards, and screenshots, etc. alike. Its still a work in progress but it will also have a proper BBcode forum as well.

It also won't be a Booru.org booru so we won't have to worry about spambots attacking it or whatever. He's actually hosting it himself on a custom website, similar to the /tesg/ booru. He's also made an announcement on the Discord so I have no worries about people here going to it, with all the votes he's recieved so far on a straw poll he made.

While I've liked contributing to this place its likely just a lost cause to try and moderate it: It would be like trying to clean up a rotting corpse at this point. I've ran one of these types of Boorus before, cleaning up spam on these sites is literal hours of work. And it takes less effort to use a proxy and just spam again than it takes to clean it all up. I also haven't heard back from the Booru.org staff yet.

Anyway when the new booru is up I'll make sure to post an announcement here for the select few that aren't familiar with the 4chan side of the HS communities and came here from other sites. Hope to see you there!

You're being insulting for no reason, and we were having a civil conversation. I wonder what is it about my points that ruffle you that much.

Anyway, good luck with your next booru. You'll need it considering how your previous one was a total failure.

Welp starting to think I shouldn't have started all this. What's done is done. Here's a link for 3,383 Koikatu/Koikatsu gathered from this Booru, Hongfire, and some from the in-game downloading/sharing feature.

Interesting. Did you use some sort of script to mass pull pictures off the Booru?

Could you mass download all the PH and HS stuff into separate folders as well, if you wouldn't mind?

Someone on the Discord uploaded a pack with 32,000+ cards after the whole place went kablooey so we could use that to also jumpstart the new place, too. I'm sure there's probably some overlap in there but I'm not sure.

That file is nothing but Koikatu/Koikatsu and the ones I got from this Booru were individually saved. The biggest bulk came from hongfire. http://www.hongfire.com/forum/fo...cter-sharing-thread/page2 the 17th post on that page to be exact. Either way a good collection of cards, I've found though if you have that many in your active chara/female folder then it causes really bad loading/crashing problems. I've tried looking for mass uploaders/downloaders to no avail

Oh well, its fine. Those 32,000 cards in the Discord pack are like 90% of the cards here anyway.

There's a whole lot of really old and plain non modded cards here from the old JP only database, and a lot of cards have been updated since then as well.

The /tesg/ booru had an interesting way of grabbing cards off the old booru with tags intact, I might ask Zixaphir if he can lend the script for that to the new place. Would make the move a little more seamless.

For the time being I'll be sticking to Koikatsu so hopefully your discord and my file can be a foundation for koikatsu only site or something. Either or have a good one!
